1. Music books and photocopying
The CCLI photocopy licence has made it easier for many churches and eased many a conscience. By paying a fee, based on photocopying activity, churches can photocopy music for most songs. Part of the fee goes to the songwriter, part to the publisher and part to CCLI for administration.
A down side of the plan for us and our customers, is that the lower sales mean shorter print runs causing printing costs to rise dramatically.
The site has now moved - go to -

This was a contributing factor in the recent release of our Volume E music book. Our survey showed that more than 80% of customers used only the simplified version, so we released the Volume E in this form, selling for $35. We also made the full piano version available on CD ROM for $19.95 - print out your own music (we did this also for the last reprint of Volume D). That seemed to be the best solution - rather than having a book priced around $50.
Not everyone was happy, but that is often the way on Adam's earth. In heaven, things will all be different - the harps play themselves without music and no one sings out of tune either!
2. Data projection
Lots of churches are finding the dollars for a data projector and the OHPs are filling cupboard space. It certainly presents an excellent image, but at quite a cost. Keep the church securely locked - one was stolen from our church recently - probably to feed a drug habit.
To project these songs you need:
a) the words of the songs
b) a programme to control the projection as required.
a) The words.
You can type these in yourself - in which case you need the appropriate CCLI licence. If you do type them in, WATCH THE SPELLING. Bad spelling is a huge distraction for many people in worship. (N.B. a common spelling error is "… Lord of Lords").
Alternatively, we supply text files of all our releases which are copyright cleared (i.e. need no licence) and should be free of spelling mistakes.
The complete set costs $500 ($100 for each volume) but is half price if your church already has obtained our OHPTs and is making the transition to data projection. Contact Kennedy for details.
Note that our OHPTs and text files may be used for events outside the church premises, and do not require a special licence.
(b) The projection programme.
You can project the words using "Power Point" but it has limitations which become obvious. The best programme, designed specifically for the task by Australian Ian Krigsman, is called "Presenter". It is widely used and is quick and simple to use. Contact Kennedy Int. for more details. (02 96043600)
3. Demo CDs for band/singers
At present, this activity is not covered by CCLI licences. The CCLI board discussed the need at their annual meeting in Sydney this year and is planning to look at it further some time in the future, but don't expect quick action.
